when the light bulb goes off

I had been searching for the perfect lamp, or lampshade, which ever happened to come first. Then, a light bulb went off!
After 6+ months, I started unpacking my DIY & crafting supplies. I found beautiful home decor fabrics I had been hoarding; a blue toile & a bamboo trellis to name a few. Eventually, I planned to recover a chair with them.

Next thing you know, armed with spray adhesive, applique scissors and mod podge; I got to work. I learned a few things along the way. Make sure your fabric is just barley larger than your shade. If you can find a perfect barrel (mine had a slight slant) your life will be much easier. Before you mod podge, and you've only attached the fabric with spray adhesive, you can still easily remove it. Even after you mod podge, you can still trim up the top and bottom and reglue it to the shade.

All in all, the project is easy! Pick and cotton fabric. Measure and cut it so its only 1/8-1/4" larger than the shade. I pressed the edge to make a nice firm, hemline with out sewing.Spray the shade with your craft adhesive. Cover the shade with the fabric, smoothing out any wrinkles as you go. Make sure it is very taunt. Once you apply the mod podge wrinkles you didn't see before will appear.

Once your fabric is in place ( I even put a tiny bit of hot glue on the top and bottom rim) paint the entire shade with mod podge. This seals the fabric and makes it almost feel like plastic. It goes on white but dries clear. I used the matte finish. I stuck it back on the lamp to dry over night.
You can shop the supplies I used, and a similar lamp here.
